Town Hall Square in Tallinn

Town Hall Square (Raekoja plats) is the central square of the Old Town in Tallinn. This place was used for fairs long before construction of Town hall. Built in the gothic style Town hall is the dominant building on the square. At the top of Town Hall tower is located the famous “Old Toomas weathervane”. On the perimeter of Square are beautiful, medieval houses.
In winter, on the square set the Christmas tree. There are many cafes in summer on the square. It is must to visit place in Tallinn.

Days of the Old Town is the most famous event, which is held in the square and in the old town.
The photo shows part of the Town Square. Tallinn Town Hall photos can be seen here. To Town Hall Square is easy to walk from downtown along the Viru street through the Viru gate. From the passenger port of Tallinn the shortest way to the square is through the Great Coastal Gate.
