St Mark's Basilica is the most famous of the Venice churches and one of the best known examples of Byzantine architecture.

St. Mark's Basilica (Basilica di San Marco) is located on St. Mark's Square, next to the Palace of the Doges of Venice. This is one of the most famous and beautiful buildings in Venice. Cathedral has an unusual appearance, and not like most churches.

The cathedral houses many precious objects of art that were taken from Constantinople during the Crusades. Council included among the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The photo shows the facade of the cathedral.

The photo was taken during a tourist trip to Italy in February 2013.
