Every culture, every nation has its own fantasies and fairy tales, through the metaphor reflecting the environment, nature. Mankind has always sought to convey his ideas about nature and the environment through a fairy tale. In 2014, the famous Venice Carnival devoted to the topic of relations between people and the environment expressed through fantasy and fairy tales: the forest, valleys, seas, mountains, mysterious animal and vegetable beings inhabiting them. Masks are inspired by traditional European fairy tales, tales of the East and West, Asia and Oceania, America and Africa.
Carnival 2014 highlights:
- Friday, February 14: Prologue, Valentine's Day.
- Saturday February 15: Opening of the Venice Film Festival with the show (Cannaregio).
- Sunday 16 February: The Boat Contest (Grand Canal - Cannaregio).
- Sunday February 23: Flight of the Angel (Piazza San Marco, in the role of an angel Julia Nasi.).
- Saturday 1 March parade of carnival platforms (Marghera).
- Sunday, March 2: Flight of the Eagle and the Flying Donkey (Mestre.
- Monday, March 3: Carnival Culture Night.
- Tuesday 4th March: Flying Lion , Pacific Parade of Water, The Great Fire.
- From February 22 to March 4: competitions for the best mask and best carnival costume. Concerts.

Daily (twice a day, morning and afternoon) on the Piazza San Marco will perform comedians who will select participants on the best carnival costume. Contestants will be chosen by the audience. Finals competition will take place on Sunday. To win the competition carnival costume should reflect the theme of the carnival.
Also on the Piazza San Marco will take the show, clowning, music and dancing.
