Christmas is coming

Helsinki December 25 in many countries around the world celebrate one of the most popular holiday in the world - Christmas. Preparing for the holiday begins long before the Christmas: the street and houses are decorated with festive lights, shops arrange Christmas sales. Preparation for Christmas begins in the Finland capital Helsinki with the inclusion of holiday illumination on the street Aleksanderinkatu.

November 24 (2013) in Helsinki officially begins preparation for Christmas. Celebrations will be organized on the Senate Square (Senaatintori, next to the Cathedral) that day. Charity stalls will be opened at 13.30, the official ceremony will begin at 14:00. At 15 o'clock the mayor Jussi Pajunen and Santa Claus will light Christmas lights on one of the main streets of the city - Aleksanterinkatu. After this festive parade will take place on the street to the sculpture "Three Smiths" (Kolmen Sepän patsas), turn to the Esplanade Park and return to the Senate Square.

Similar events will take place in many countries and cities. Solemnly include Christmas illuminations in such cities as Paris, New York and London. But, as everyone knows, the residence of Santa Claus in Finland is located in Lapland, Rovaniemi. Hence the festival is beginning to spread around the world.
