2014 Winter Olympics begin on February 7

Very little time is left before the main sporting event 2014 - the Winter Olympics in Sochi (Russia). Winter Olympics 2014 will begin on February 7 and will continue until February 23, 2014.

The opening ceremony of the 2014 Olympic Games will start at 20:14 (Moscow time) on Friday the 7-th of February. The opening ceremony will be held on the "Fischt" stadium in the Olympic Park (city Adler, Greater Sochi). (The location of the stadium and other Olympic venues can be found on the map of Sochi.) The opening ceremony will undoubtedly be a colorful show for the audience, which will be broadcast in many countries around the world. The culmination of the ceremony will be the lighting of the Olympic flame. Olympic Flame will ignite one of the world-renowned athletes.

During the competition will be played out 98 sets of medals in seven sports.

Winter sports at the Olympic Games in Sochi in 2014:

  • Ski sports (Alpine skiing, Nordic combined, cross-country skiing, ski jumping, freestyle, snowboard).
  • Ice hockey.
  • Skate Sports (speed skating, figure skating, short track).
  • Biathlon.
  • Bobsleigh,
  • Luge.
  • Curling.

The closing ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games will be held at Sunday, February 23, 2014.
