Metro station “Vasileostrovskaya” (Василеостровская) is one of the most usefull for tourist metro stations in Saint Petersburg. The station is located in the central part of the city, close to many famous tourist places of Saint Petersburg. Not far from the station are located some museums, as well as University and the Academy of Arts. Distance from station to Palace Square is about 2.5 kilometers.
Metro station “Vasileostrovskaya” is located on the “Nevsko-Vasileostrovskaya” metro line (line 3, green line), between stations “Primorskaja” and “Gostiny Dvor”. This is one of two subway stations that serve transport links to Vasilievsky Island.

The station opened on November 3, 1967. Station js located at depth 64 meters under ground level. Station pavilion is located on Vasilevsky Island, on the corner of “Sredniy Prospekt” and “7th line” streets. Exit fron the underground hall (exit from the station and escalators) is located at the southern end of the hall.
There are plans to build a second exit from metro station "Vasileostrovskaya" which will (presumably) be located on 10-11 lines of Vasilievsky Island.
Vasileostrovskaya is the nearest metro station for:
- “Birzevaya” square - may be the most beautiful place in St. Petersburg.
- St. Petersburg State University. (Distance of approximately 1 kilometer.)
- Academy of Fine Arts.
- Cabinet of curiosities (Kunstkamera). One of the oldest museums in Russia. A distance of about 1.5 kilometers.
- Museum of Contemporary Art "Erarta".

Right opposite the exit from the lobby of the station you will see McDonald's. Nearby there is also the Burger King Café (turn left on the Sredny Prospekt), Teremok Café and dining room (to the right, along the 6th line).
