Metro station “Krestovskiy Ostrov” (Крестовский остров, Krestovskiy island) is located in the western part of St. Petersburg, on Krestovsky island (in the delta of the Neva River). The distance from station to the city center (Palace Square) is about 4.5 kilometers (straight line distance). Metro station “Krestovskiy Ostrov” is located on the “Frunzensko-primorskaya” metro line (line 5, purple line) of St. Petersburg metro, between stations “Chkalovskaya” and “Staraya Derevnya”.
The station was opened on September 3, 1999. Underground station hall is located at a depth of 49 meters. Station lobby is located at the intersection of streets “Morskoy prospect” and “Ryukhinskaya street”, in the eastern part of the Krestovsky island. Exit from the station underground hall (escalators) located in the northern end of the hall.
The station was designed by architects E. M. Rapoport and G. Vasilyev. In the design of underground structures and ground station hall used (used contrast) themes of modernity and history. Architectural solution for lead author of the project EM Rapoport awarded the Gold Medal of the Russian Academy of Arts (2000) and Golden Diploma of the winner of the architectural festival "Architecture 2001".
