Metro stations “Kurskaya” and “Chkalovskaya”

Metro stations “Kurskaya” and “Chkalovskaya” in Moscow are located at a distance of about 2.5 kilometers to east from the city center (Kremlin and Red Square), next to the “Kursky voksal” railway station. Metro station “Kurskaya” are on two of the Moscow metro lines: “Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya” line (line 3, the blue line), and the “Koltsevaya” line (Circle Line, lLine 5, brown line). Metro station “Chkalovskaya” is located on the Lublinsko-Dmitrovskaya metro line (line 10, light green line). Stations are connected by a transition, which allows making a transfer between three metro lines.

Metro station “Kurskaya” (Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line)

Metro station “Kurskaya” (Курская) of Moscow metro Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line is located between the stations “Baumanskaya” and “Ploschad Revolyutsii”.

Moscow metro map The station was opened on 13 March 1938. Station boarding hall is located under the street “Zemlyanoy Val”. Exit from the station (escalators) is located in the east end of the hall.

Metro station has transfer to the same name station of “Koltsevaya line” and to the “Chkalovskaya” station of Lublinsko-Dmitrovskaya line. Transition to “Koltsevaya” line is in the center of the hall. Transition to Lublinsko-Dmitrovskaya line located in the western end of the hall.

Exit from the station is carried through a circular underground hall, next to which are located ticket offices. Through the same hall is pissible to go to the “Koltsevaja” line station. Station has exits to the waiting room of the “Kurskiy voksal” raiway station, ground vestibule (located on the first floor of the house on the “Ploschad Kurskogo Voksala” square) and across a pedestrian tunnel under the railway to “Nizhny Susalny” street.

Metro station “Kurskaya” (Koltsevaya line)

Metro station “Kurskaya” (Курская) of the Moscow Metro “Koltsevaya line” (Circle Line) is located under the the “Kursky” railway station square (Ploschad Kurskogo Voksala) between stations “Komsomolskaya” and “Taganskaya”. The station was opened 1 January 1950.

The station has two vestibules. North vestibule is shared with the station “Kurskaya” of Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line. The station vestibule is located in the northern part of the “Kursky voksal” railway station square and has exits to the railway station building and to the square. South hall is located in the southern part of the square and is shared with the station “Chkalovskaya”.

The transition to the station “Kurskaya” of Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line in the center of the station boarding hall (stairs over the platform, then the corridor). The transition to the station “Chkalovskaya” produced through a common for two stations vestibule.

Metro station “Chkalovskaya”

Metro station "Chkalovskaya” (Чкаловская) located on the Lublinsko-Dmitrovskaya line of Moscow Metro, between stations “Sretensky Boulevard” and “Rimskaya”. The station was opened on December 28, 1995. From the station is possible to get to the stations “Kurskaya” (Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya and Koltsevaya lines).

The transition to the station “Kurskaya” of Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line located in the northern end of the central hall. The transition to the station of “Koltsevaya” metro line is in the southern end of the hall. Exit to the city and transition to the “Koltsevaya” line is through the ground vestibule. The vestibule is common for two metro stations and is located in the southern part of the “Ploschad Kurskogo Voksala” square (Kyrskiy railway station square, Площадь Курского вокзала).

Station decoration dedicated to the famous pilot Valery Chkalov (1904-1938). In time of station building street “Zemlyanoy Val” was called “Chkalovskaya” street. This explains the choice of the station name. In 1992, the street gets a historical name.
