Transaero Airlines may be declared bankrupt

The second by number of passengers’ airlines in Russia is experiencing great economic problems. Most likely the airline will be declared bankrupt. There are proposals to create several other companies on its basis.

Airlines debts account for about 250 billion rubles. The airline began to experience financial difficulties since the autumn of 2014. At the end of December 2014 the "Transaero" airline has received state guarantees in the amount of 9 billion rubles. It did not help the company cope with problems.

The airline is the second in Russia on an annual passenger traffic after the Aeroflot airline. During 2013 the airline carried 12.5 million passengers. In 2015, Transaero was recognized by the magazine Business Destination as best in Europe in economy class. The airline has about 100 aircraft.

Transaero Airlines transported a large number of tourists. The crisis in the tourist industry in Russia has had its negative impact on the company. The bankruptcy of airlines can lead to tourists transportation cost increase on charter flights.
