Metro Station “Prospekt Vernadskogo” in Moscow (станция метро Проспект Вернадского) is located in the southwestern part of the city, at a distance approximately 11 kilometers from the city center and at a distance of about 5 kilometers from MKAD (Moscow Ring Road). The station is located at the intersection of Prospect Vernadsky and Udaltsova streets.
Metro station “Prospekt Vernadskogo” is located on the Sokolnicheskaya Line of the Moscow Metro (line 1, red line), between the stations "University" and "Yugo-Zapadnaya".
The station was opened on December 30, 1963. The station hall is located at a depth about 8 meters below the ground surface.
The station has two exits from the underground hall. One of the halls has access to the underground passage, which is located southwest of the intersection of Prospect Vernadsky and Udaltsova streets. The second vestibule is integrated into a shopping center, north-east of the streets junction.
The station is located next to the street Vernadsky Prospekt. This explains the choice of the station name. A marble bust of VI Vernadsky is in the northern hall.
Vladimir Vernadsky (February 28, 1863 - January 6, 1945) - Russia and the Soviet scientist, academician of the St. Petersburg Academy of Sciences, the Russian Academy of Sciences, one of the founders and first president of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences.
