Extracts from the diary

Chita - Ulan-Ude

Section of road Chita – Ulan-Ude is one of the most beautiful parts of the route. Nature around the roads is hills and rivers. Open space, beautiful landscapes. The road from Chita to Ulan-Ude is the same in quality as average Russian roads. There are areas with gravel. There are areas where a distance of 50 kilometers where does not work telephone in the Trans-Baikal region. Best coverage has “Megafon” mobile operator. On the way in Buryatia we punched two wheels.

Ulan-Ude - Irkutsk

The road from Ulan-Ude to Irkutsk is in its own way beautiful. This is a road along the lake of Baikal. The road is regularly maintained. The road is some worse in Buryatia. Most road sections are old. In the Irkutsk region the road is better. Closer to the Irkutsk begins serpentines. Additional lanes on the road are not provided. There are road areas which are dangers to drivers.

Irkutsk - Krasnoyarsk

About this road part trip participants were warned many times. Two years ago, on the road section near the town of Taishet get stuck trucks. Now in this area is maintained reconstruction of the road. We agreed with the road builders and passed on the new road. All other machines are still going along the old road. Near the town of Tulun road is narrow and is broken asphalt covered with rubble. Near the village Bulyushka road is pretty smooth, but narrow and winding. There was a lot of dust. This road part is 18 km long.

Krasnoyarsk - Novosibirsk

There is a road with good pavement from Krasnoyarsk to Novosibirsk. Ground areas are not. There is an old cover in Achinsk and Mariinsk. A lot of road service in the form of cafes, gas stations, motels, rest areas for truck drivers are along the road. There is no bypass road in the city of Kemerovo. But passing through the city is not difficult.

Novosibirsk - Omsk

It is straight, broad road. Roadside services are good. There are cafes with modern and good furniture. Parking places for truckers with asphalt. Good toilets. Flow of trucks increases. We have to make a lot of overtaking.
