Russia crimes statistics 2011

Photos Is it safe to live and travel in Russia? This question arises from many foreigners planning to travel to Russia to study or to work. Here are crime statistics of first half of 2011.

  • There were 1.4389 million crimes in January - July 2011 (9.4% less than the same period last year).
  • 22.4 thousand people died as a result of crimes. In rural areas were 40.8% of all victims.
  • Approximately half of all recorded crimes (47.1%) are theft of another's property, committed by different: stolen - 590 700 (6.2%), robbery - 75 300 (22.4%), robbery with violence - 11 700 (17.4%).

In January - July 2011 crimes with weapons committed 4000. The greatest number of recorded crimes using weapons noted in:

  • Republic of Dagestan (396)
  • Sverdlovsk region (322)
  • Saint Petersburg (196)
  • Stavropol Territory (132)
  • Krasnoyarsk region (132).

128 800 crimes related to drug trafficking were identified in January - July 2011.
In public places recorded 342,800 crimes.

On the streets, squares, parks and gardens registered 218,400 crimes, including 35,900 robberies, 88600 thefts, 3900 armed robberies.

On roads and highways outside urban areas committed 95 armed robberies, 202 of robbery, found 54 the illegal acquisition, transfer, sale, storage, transportation or carrying of weapons, ammunition, explosives and explosive devices.

In January - July 2011 were revealed 805 700 crimes, not disclosed 584 900 offenses. Remained unsolved 879 murders and attempted murders.

Foreign nationals and stateless persons on the territory of the Russian Federation committed 27,900 crimes. Citizens of the CIS (part of the countries of former Soviet Union) had committed 25,300 crimes (90.4%).

The number of crimes against foreign citizens and stateless persons was 6500.
The main victims of crimes against foreigners are citizens of CIS countries, while Europeans against committed about 8% of criminal acts.

Among the foreigners more crimes commited citizens of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Ukraine, Azerbaijan, China, Vietnam and Turkey. There are a large number of workers from these countries in Russia and the majority of crimes are committed within these ethnic groups.

This information is published in official sources, which can not be fully trusted. To improve the quality of its work police officers distort the figures. Attorney General's Office has identified more than 14 thousand facts of concealment crimes law enforcement authorities of the central regions of Russia this year.
