Saint Petersburg State University
Saint Petersburg State University is one of the largest and one of the oldest universities in Russia. Saint Petersburg State Conservatory
St. Petersburg State Conservatory named after Rimsky-Korsakov is highest musical education institution in St. Petersburg, the oldest conservatory in Russia. The conservatory was founded in 1862. Among first graduates of the conservatory by composition class was the famous composer Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Conservatory of Music provides training of specialists, including the following areas: piano, organ and harpsichord, violin, viola, cello, contrabass, harp, brass instruments, solo singing, chamber singing, operatic training, composition and improvisation, conducting.

State Maritime Academy
State Maritime Academy named after Admiral Makarov is a state educational institution. The Academy trains specialists for the various civil and commercial fleet of Russia. The Academy has five educational camps in St. Petersburg. There is also Maritime College. The Academy has two branches in the cities Murmansk and Arkhangelsk. The Naval Academy also provides engineers training for ships with nuclear power plants, and training maintenance for the Northern Sea Route.

Academy of Theatre Arts
St. Petersburg State Theatre Arts Academy was founded in 1779. Then it was called “St. Petersburg Theatre School”. This is the oldest theater school in Russia.

St. Petersburg State Forestry Academy was founded in 1803 by decree of Emperor Alexander I. Repin Institute
Saint Petersburg State Academic Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture named after IE Repin. Repin Institute is the oldest and largest Russian art school. The Institute traces its history from the Imperial Academy of Arts. The institute together with the Moscow State Academic Art Institute V. Surikov is part of the Russian Academy of Arts. The Institute consists of: faculty of painting, faculty of graphs, faculty of sculpture, faculty of architecture and faculty of theory and history of art.

Baltic State Technical University “Voenmekh” (Military-Mechanical) includes four institutes as part of them.
