Rome Fiumicino Airport

Rome Fiumicino International Airport is the main airport of the Italian capital. The airport is named after Leonardo da Vinci (L'aeroporto di Roma-Fiumicino, IATA code: FCO). It is located about 30 kilometers west of Rome, near the town of Fiumicino (near the sea shore). There is also Rome-Ciampino airport Near Rome, which also serves international flights.

Rome Fiumicino Airport was opened in 1961. Now it is the largest airport in Italy and one of the largest in Europe (by number of passengers). More then 41.7 million passengers were served here in 2016. 105 airlines peforms flithts to the Leonardo da Vinci airport. It forms a large aviation hub of Rome (together with the airport Ciampino), which served more than 47 million passengers in 2015.

Leonardo da Vinci Airport currently (2018) has three terminals (T1, T3 and T5).
Terminal 3 is the largest in the aiport. All non-Schengen flights arrive at Terminal 3. T2 terminal is closed from December 15, 2017. Terminal T5 is located separately and is designed for flights of airlines registered in the United States, and (in part) Israel.

How to get to Rome

The Leonardo Express train runs between the airport and the Termini train station without intermediate stops. The journey takes about 30 minutes. This is the fastest and most convenient way to get to the center of Rome from the airport.

Regional FL1 trains also depart from the airport railway station. The train does not come to Termini Station. You can reach Trastevere, Ostiense (Metro Piramide), Tiburtina or Tuscolana stations in Rome.

By rail, you can also reach other cities in Italy.

The railway station is located next to the airport terminals.

Bus routes of several transport companies connect the airport with Rome. Bus stops are located next to the exits from the airport terminals.

Bus stops are located in many places in Rome.
