New York is an expensive city for tourists to stay. The cost of rooms in hotels and beds in hostels is more expensive, compared to other popular cities in the world. We compiled a review of relatively inexpensive hotels and hostels, which are located in the center of New York, in Manhattan.
A tip that you will find in many guidebooks for tourists and in the recommendations of experienced travelers. Pay attention not only to the price, when choosing a place to stay. The hotel location is very important. Not all areas of Manhattan are equally convenient (and safe) for tourists. Read customer reviews on any hotel booking site before making a decision. You will find a short description, location information and a link for hotel reservations.

Hotel 31 (2-stars). The hotel is located in the heart of Manhattan, on 31st Street between Lexington and Park Avenue. The hotel has 60 rooms. Not all rooms have their own bathroom.
The hotel is located about 2.3 kilometers south of Central Park. The distance to the Empire State Building is 500 meters, to the UN Headquarters is 1.2 kilometers. Madison Square Garden, Times Square and Rockefeller Center can be reached on foot in about 20 minutes.

The Bowery House (3 stars). The hotel is conveniently located in the southern part of Manhattan, in SoHo, about 5 kilometers south of Central Park. The hotel has single and double rooms, shared bathrooms, a spacious living room, a garden on the roof of the building.
The hotel is 1 block from the New Museum of Modern Art, the Bowery Ballroom, the Old St. Patrick's Cathedral. The distance to the area of Little Italy is only 800 meters. At a distance of about 2.5 kilometers from the hotel is one of the places to take pictures in New York - the famous sculpture "Attacking bull" (Bronze bull) on Wall Street. Nearby there are shops of popular brands: Apple, H & M, Zara, Prada, Ralph Lauren.

Bowery Grand Hotel (1 star). The hotel is located in the southern part of Manhattan, next to China Town and near the Little Italy district. The hotel has single and double rooms. Bathrooms are shared.

Carlton Arms Hotel (2-stars). Carlton Arms is located in the southern part of Manhattan, about 3 kilometers from Central Park. The hotel is located in a five-story building without an elevator.

Riverside Tower Hotel (2-stars). The Riverside Tower Hotel is located at the corner of West 80th Street and Riverside Drive in Upper West Side, just minutes from Midtown and Lincoln Center. The hotel's website states that this is one of the safest hotels in the city of New York (located in a safe area). The hotel has single, double and quadruple rooms.
Each room at the Riverside Tower is equipped with a microwave and refrigerator. Some rooms have a view of the Hudson River.
