Larnaca is the third largest city in Cyprus (after Nicosia and Limassol). The city is located on the Mediterranean coast, approximately in the central part of the southern coast of the island. The city of Paphos is located at a distance of approximately 140 kilometers and Limassol 70 kilometers west of Larnaca. The popular resorts of Ayia Napa and Protaras are located east of Larnaca (45 kilometers). The largest airport in Cyprus is located near the city.
Places to visit
Main attractions: St. Lazarus Church, Halas Sultan Tekke Mosque, Medieval Castle, ancient Aqueduct, salt lake.
Salt Lake. The salt lake is located south of the city (between the city and the airport). The lake is famous for the fact that you can see flamingos there from November to the end of March.
Promenade Finikoudes. The promenade and the beach is the most popular place where tourists spend their free time. This is a beautiful place for walking by the sea. The promenade is located north of the Larnaca Medieval Castle. The beach has a length of approximately 650 meters.
Larnaca Castle. The castle is located on the seafront, at the southern tip of the Finikoudes Promenade (Date Promenade). Currently, the castle houses a historical museum.
Church of St. Lazarus. The church is located at a distance of about 250 meters from the promenade and is one of the historical attractions of the city.
Hala Sultan Tekke Mosque. The mosque is one of the most significant Muslim holy places. The mosque is located on the western shore of Larnaca Salt Lake, near the airport.
Aqueduct of Kamares. The aqueduct was built in 1747 to supply the city with water and was used until 1939. The aqueduct is located at a distance of about 3.5 kilometers from the promenade (not far from the salt lake).
Mackenzie Beach. This is a very popular beach, which is located near the airport. This is a dark sand beach. You can watch planes take off and land and take good photos. The distance to Mackenzie Beach from Larnaca Castle and Finikoudes Beach is approximately 2.5 kilometers (on foot, along the coast).

Larnaca airport
Larnaca International Airport is located 4 kilometers southwest of the city. The airport can be reached by bus or taxi. You can also rent a car right at the airport. You can get to Paphos, Nicosia, Protaras and Ayia Napa from the airport by bus.
City buses of routes 417, 418, 425, 429 go from the airport to the city center. For some routes, the Airport is an intermediate stop (check the direction at the bus stop).
The shuttle to Larnaca Airport from Limassol leaves from the stop located next to the Church of St. George Chavuzas on the street Χριστοφή Εργατούδη.
Ayia Napa and Protaras can be reached both by buses departing from the airport, and from the Larnaca bus station.
