Football stadium Saint Petersburg

The main stadium of St. Petersburg is located approximately 8 kilometers from the city center (from the Palace square). Its name (2021) is Gazprom-Arena. But on the days of international matches, it can be called "St. Petersburg-Arena". Locals may also sometimes use the name Zenith Arena.

The Krestovsky Ostrov metro station is located at a distance of 2.2 kilometers from the stadium. (The route lies through the park.)
The Begovaya metro station is located 2.4 kilometers from the stadium. We recommend taking a walk. You will see the Park of the 300th Anniversary of St. Petersburg, the sea, the Lakhta Center skyscraper.

Fan zones

Fan zones, special for football fans, will be opened in St. Petersburg during EURO 2020. You can watch football matches on the big screen and have fun.

Fan zones are usually organized during the most significant football competitions. Most likely, the fan zones will be open during the final match of the UEFA Europa League

(Old information. The largest fan zone was located on Konyushennaya Square. Konyushennaya Square is located in the very center of the city, at a distance of about 500 meters from Nevsky Prospekt and from Palace Square. (You can walk to Konyushennaya Square from Nevsky Prospekt along Bolshaya Konyushennaya Street.)

The second fan zone was located on Palace Square. The fan zone on Palace Square was open on match days in St. Petersburg (June 12, 16 and 21 2021). The nearest metro station is "Admiralteyskaya".

Another area for football fans was located next to the Yubileiny Sports Center. (Nearest metro station: Sportivnaya.)

Public transport

Metro, bus, tram and trolleybus are types of public transport in St. Petersburg. You can pay for a trip to the metro by purchasing a "Token". Its cost (2021) is 60 rubles.

You can try to pay for the fare with a VISA or MASTERCARD bank card. (We are not sure that this will always be possible.) To pay, attach your bank card to the validator on the left pedestal of the first (right, luggage) turnstile or on the right pedestal of the last (left) turnstile in the turnstile line.

You can still pay in cash for travel by land transport. (It is planned that all transport will switch to cashless payments, probably in the summer of 2021.)

Contactless card to pay for travel to St. Petersburg We would recommend buying a Podorozhnik transport card and paying for travel with this card. It works both in the metro and in surface transport. You can buy a card at any metro ticket office or at a vending machine (at any destination). Load the amount of money you need for travel on the card.

Taxi is the most convenient form of transport in St. Petersburg. (I use Yandex-taxi. Good prices, good service.) You can download the Yandex-maps application on your smartphone and order a taxi using the map.
