Church construction began in 829 and completed in 832 AD. If you are in Venice, definitely come to the Piazza San Marco and look of the basilica.

How to get to Venice

The most convenient way to get to Venice is by plane. Venice Marco Polo Airport is serving arraving in Venice tourists (one of the largest airports in Italy). Airport serve aircrafts flies from many countries and cities of Europe. The airport is situated in Tessera, a distance of 8 kilometers to north of Venice. The airport has a railway station. Buses and water taxies regularly go from the airport in Venice.

You can travel to Venice by train. Trains arrive at the “Venezia Santa Lucia” railway station. Station is located directly in Venice, near the Grand Canal. Here come the trains from Rome and Milan. Direct trains to Venice are available from many international destinations. There are overnight trains from Munich, Paris and Vienna and also some a weekly long-distance night train.

It is possible to get to Venice by car. Bridge “Ponte della Libertà” connects Venice to the mainland. Prepare for possible problems with parking.
