According to unconfirmed data until July 1 in St. Petersburg will be more the cost of public transport. Tickets for the bus, tram and trolley bus will be more expensive for two rubles. The same amount more expensive fare on the subway. The fare on the trams and city buses will be equal to 23 rubles. Metro ticket will cost 27 rubles. The final decision is still pending, but the city's budget deficit forced to do it.

Travel by public transportation becomes more expensive every year. Typically, the cost of tickets increases from January 1. But this year, raising ticket prices could affect the results of elections held in Russia. Higher prices of transport services were moved to a later time.

The final decision is still pending, but there is little doubt that it will be accepted. Budget revenue of St. Petersburg is worse than expected.
Against this background, it seems a curious initiative of the authorities and residents of Tallinn (Estonia). In the near future, the city public transport may be available free to local residents.
