The roads for wealthy
The Russian leadership has decided to make traveling by road Saint Petersburg - Finland (highway "Scandinavia") paid. Intention to make this highway paid has been long ago. Car owners were hoping that this decision will not be accepted. Unfortunately, Russia does not have funds to maintain roads in a usable condition. It is very bad that travel by car will be more expensive in so large country.
The Russian leadership plans to do paid also many other roads. Paid in the future will be the road from Petersburg to the border with Belarus (through the Pskov), the new high-speed road Moscow - St. Petersburg, some highways in St. Petersburg. Obviously, this is not an exhaustive list. Car owners will be forced to not only pay car use taxes, but also to pay for roads. For many Russians, this is a very significant loss in the family budget. If it goes on, the car will be only for the wealthy citizens. (At present, many cannot afford to buy a car.) The date when on these roads travelers will need to pay the tolls, not yet named. But it is likely that this will happen in the period from 2015 to 2030.

Older people still remember the days when there not only roads were free. In the USSR, any person may obtain a free education or medical care. After the last reforms the state is unable to provide road maintenance. But the number of millionaires in Moscow is growing. No doubt, after the transfer of these fit all the roads in the category of paid someone will be able to earn.
