“Akmerkez” is a popular shopping mall located in the “Etiler” quarter of Istanbul, Turkey. Shopping center occupies an area 180.000 m² and consists of a four-storey shopping area and two towers offering 14 and 17 stories of office space, and a third tower with 24 stories of residential areas.
Shopping center hosts about 250 stores. The shopping center has 41 escalators, 2 panoramic elevators and 30 high-speed elevators.
Over 2 million people visit the shopping mall every month. Numerous shops offer a wide selection of clothing for men, women and children, as well as other products. There are restaurants, a hairdresser, and a currency exchange. In 1995, the
International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) has recognized “Akmerkez” as the best shopping centers in Europe.
