Metro station “Tehnologicheskiy institute” (Технологический институт) is located at the intersection of streets “Moscovsky prospect” and “Zagorodny prospect”, just south of the city center. The station is located at the intersection of important transport routes of the city and is one of the busiest transport hubs of St. Petersburg metro.
Metro Station Tehnologicheskiy institut has two boarding halls, which are located at the Kirovsko-Vyborgskaya metro line (line 1, red line between the stations “Baltiiskaya” and “Pushkinskaya”) and on the Moscovsko-Petrogradskaya line (line 2, blue line, between the stations “Sennaya Ploshchad” and “Frunzenskaya”). At the station can be performed transfer between these lines.
Metro Station Tehnologicheskiy institut has two boarding halls which are connected by the transition. At the station is used the so-called cross-platform scheme of movement (change trains and lines). Each station hall serves two subway lines of one direction. For transfer to another line passengers just go to the other side of of the hall (if you do not have to change direction from the north to the south or vice versa).
Ground station lobby is located in the house, which is located at the intersection of “Moscovsky prospect” and “Zagorodniy ppospekt” avenues.
The first hall of the station was opened on 15 November 1955. It is often called the “Hall of Columns” (columns used in the construction of the hall). On the columns of the hall are placed reliefs of prominent Russian and Soviet scientists.
The second hall was opened April 11, 1961. On the pylons of the station there are inscriptions that speak of scientific and technological achievements of the USSR. (Example: 1961 April 12 the first time in the world Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin made a space flight.)
The terrorist act was committed between the stations Sennaya Ploschad and the Technological Institute on April 3, 2017.
Near the station are located:
- St. Petersburg State Institute of Technology (Technology University).
- "Sokos Hotel Olympia Garden" hotel. One of the Finnish company “Sokos” hotels in St. Petersburg.
- Saint - Petersburg State University of Architecture and Civil Engineering.
