Metro station "Yugo-Zapadnaya" located in the southwestern part of Moscow, near the intersection of streets Prospect “Vernardskogo”, “Pokryshkina” and “26 Baku Commissars”. Metro Station "Yugo-Zapadnaya" (South West) is the ultimate station of “Sokolnicheskaya” metro line in Moscow. Nearest metro station on Sokolnicheskaya line is "Prospekt Vernadskogo" station. Station "Yugo-Zapadnaya" is one of the busiest (by number of passengers) metro stations in Moscow.
The station was opened on December 30, 1963. It is located at depth about 8 meters. Station name comes from its geographical position in the southwest of the city. Entrance (exit) to the station is via the underpass under the "Prospekt Vernardskogo" street. Underpass has outputs (pavilions) on both sides of the Vernadsky Prospekt street.
