Metro station “Novokuznetskaya” is located in the central part of Moscow, in the “Zamoskvorech'e” area of Central Administrative District, at a distance of about 1.3 kilometers south of the Kremlin and Red Square. Metro station “Novokuznetskaya” is located on “Zamoskvoretskaya line” line (line 2, green line) of the Moscow underground, between the stations “Teatralnaya” and “Paveletskaya”. Station is connected by transitions to two halls of metro station “Tretyakovskaya”. The interior of the station can be considered as a model of the architectural style of best times of the Soviet Union and could be interesting for tourists.
Metro station was opened on 20 November 1943. Underground station hall is located at a depth of 37.5 meters. The station is located next to the “Novokuznetskaya”street, which explains the choice of the station name. Initially, the station name was written with a hyphen – “Novo-Kuznetskaya”.
The station has an original interior design. Sculpture, bronze casting, smalt mosaic was used in the station interior. Station project in 1946 was awarded the Stalin Prize.
Ground station lobby is located in the hall between Novokuznetskaya and Pyatnitskaya streets (between houses number 21 and 23 along Pyatnitskaya street).
Transition to the southern hall of “Tretyakovskaya” station (train towards “Medvedkovo” and “Novokosino” stations) begins at the southern end of the hall. Transition to northern hall of subway station “Tretyakovskaya” starts in the center of the hall (via stairs and bridges above the platform).
