Sokolniki metro station (станция метро Сокольники) in Moscow is located on Sokolnicheskaya square, at the junction of streets Staromrynka and Rusakovskaya, at a distance approximately 5 kilometers north-east of the city center (Kremlin and Red Square). The Sokolniki station located on Sokolnicheskaja Moscow subway line (Line 1, red line), between stations "Krasnoselskaya" and "Preobrazhenskaya Ploschad".
The station was opened in 1935. The first in the history of the Moscow metro train with passengers went from this station, May 15, 1935. The station is located at depth 9 meters under ground level. It is planned to organize a transition to the station "Sokolniki" of Third interchange circuit in 2019.
