Tourism in the Dominican Republic is recovering. Although there have been fewer US tourists, the total number of foreign tourist arrivals has increased in November 2021.

For example, in November 2021, more than 519 thousand foreigners arrived in the Dominican Republic, which is 12% more than in November 2019.

Approximately 4.26 million foreign tourists visited the Dominican Republic from January to November 2021. This is approximately 73% of the number of tourists in the corresponding period of 2019. But by the end of the year, tourists began to come on vacation to the Dominican Republic more actively.

The nationalities of tourists has also changed. US citizens have made up the majority of foreign tourists (70%) in past years. This year, US citizens have not yet returned in full and make up less than 40% of the total number of foreign tourists. At the same time, the number of tourists from Canada, Russia and Germany has increased.

Keep in mind that the number of Americans among foreign tourists may increase in the coming days and months. Christmas break is coming soon. This is traditionally the hottest season in the tourism industry. Whale watching season will begin soon too. The best season for surfing and windsurfing is approaching.

The Dominican Republic remains a safe and attractive vacation destination.
