Veneto, Italy

The Veneto region is considered the most visited region in Italy and one of the most popular tourist destinations in Europe. This region is popular not only with residents of Italy and central Europe. Some of its cities are known to travel lovers all over the world.

The Veneto region is located in the northeastern part of Italy. Veneto shares a border with Austria in the north. The distance to Slovenia, which is located to the east, is about 55 kilometers. Famous cities

Verona. Verona is one of those cities that many tourists plan to visit when traveling in Italy. Shakespeare's play "Romeo and Juliet" greatly contributed to the fame of Verona. The Venetian Lagoon is a closed bay on the Adriatic coast. The bay is separated from the sea by several islands, between which there are straits.
The Strait of Lido San Nicolò (canale di Lido San Nicolò) is the main strait through which ships pass to the lagoon, to the port of Venice.

Lake Garda. Garda is the largest lake in Italy. The lake is located on the border between three regions: Lombardy, Veneto and Trentino-Alto Adige. It is a very popular tourist destination for Italian tourists. On the lake there is the Gardaland children's amusement park, the Seaworld aquarium, the Canevaworld water park, and the Moviland amusement park. The city of Garda and the ancient walled city of Sirmione are the most popular places on the shores of the lake.

Veneto resort towns and beach resorts

On the coast of the Adriatic Sea, east of the Venetian Lagoon, there are many resort towns. In summer, residents of the Nordic countries (Germany, Austria, Denmark, etc.) like to spend their holidays here.

The municipality of Cavallino-Treporti is the second most popular seaside resort in Italy. The municipality of Cavallino-Treporti is located between the Venetian Lagoon and the Adriatic Sea, east of the shipping channel. There is an excellent, very long, sandy beach, campsites and other places for tourists to stay, playgrounds for children.

The resort town of Lido di Jesolo is the coastal part of the town of Jesolo. The local beach is considered to be one of the best in Italy. Eraclea Mare. Eraclea Mare is a seaside part of the city of Eraclea. A good beach is over four kilometers long. A little to the west is the natural landmark Laguna del Mort. Lagoon Mort beach is often included in the ratings of the most beautiful beaches in Italy.

Duna Verde. Duna Verde is a small resort town in the municipality of Caorle in the Veneto province. The sandy beach has a gentle entrance to the water and a lot of greenery around. This is a good place for families with children.

Porto Santa Margherita. Porto Santa Margherita is a resort town located on the coast west of Caorle. There is a large beach here as well as a large yacht harbor. Lido Altanea beach is also nearby.

Caorle. Caorle is a popular resort town on the Adriatic coast in the Veneto region. In the old city center, examples of ancient Venetian architecture have been preserved. In summer, the beach hosts various activities for families.
The beaches of Levante and Ponente are well suited for tourists with children. The beaches of Duna Verde, Lido Altanea, Porto Santa Margherita also belong to the municipality of Caorle.

Bibione. The resort town of Bibione is located on the eastern coast of the Veneto region. Bibione has an excellent beach. There are hotels, apartments and campsites for tourists. It is believed that the best time for a vacation in Bibione is from May to September. (Many shops and tourist services are only open during the summer season.) The distance from Venice to Bibione is approximately 100 kilometers (by road).

Chioggia. Chioggia is located on the shores of the Adriatic Sea and the Venetian Lagoon (south of the lagoon). "Little Venice" - as tourists sometimes call the city of Chioggia.
Sottomarina is a resort suburb of Chioggia. Sottomarina Beach is approximately five kilometers long. The beach has everything you need for a pleasant seaside vacation: bathing spots, restaurants, entertainment for children and adults. Since the beach is publicly owned, access is free.

Airports

Venice International Airport named after Marco Polo (Aeroporto di Venezia Marco Polo, VCE) is one of the largest airports in Italy. The airport is located on the mainland, near the village of Tessera. The distance from the airport to Venice (by road) is approximately 14 km.

Treviso airport. Treviso Airport is sometimes called Venice-Treviso Airport because it is the second airport serving tourists arriving in Venice. The distance from the airport to Venice is approximately 30 kilometers. Passengers can get from the airport to Venice by bus.

Verona airport. The airport is located 10 kilometers from Verona. The airport has a bus connection with Verona train station. During the summer months (roughly from June to September), buses also run to Lake Garda.
