Karelia

The sculpture "Fishermen" was donated to the city of Petrozavodsk in 1991. The sculpture was donated by the city of Duluth, which is a sister city of Petrozavodsk. The author of this work is the sculptor Rafael Consuegra.

It was a good idea to donate sculptures. After that, the cities of Tübingen (Germany), Umeå (Sweden), Varkaus (Finland), La Rochelle (France), Neubrandenburg (Germany), Mo i Ran (Norway), Joensuu (Finland) made gifts to Petrozavodsk.

The most convenient way to get to Kizhi Island is by boat from the city of Petrozavodsk (in summer).

There are not so many old, wooden houses left in Karelia. One of them is located in the village of Pryazha (Karelia, Russia). It is next to the highway St. Petersburg - Petrozavodsk - Murmansk.
