Good news for travel lovers comes from Mexico. Tulum Airport is scheduled to open on December 1, 2023.
Tulum International Airport (El Aeropuerto Internacional de Tulum) has an IATA code: TQO (this may be useful when purchasing airline tickets) and the official name is "Aeropuerto Internacional Felipe Carrillo Puerto".
The airport is located approximately 10 kilometers southwest of Tulum. You can get to many places on the Riviera Maya coast by rail from the airport. It's 87 miles or 140 km from Tulum to Cancun.
You can also rent a car directly at the airport or take a taxi. (You can order a taxi 🚕 in advance online).
Also, the airport will probably have bus connections with many settlements in the region, but we do not yet know the details.

At first, the airport will serve the following destinations:
Mexico City, Guadalajara, Monterre, Tijuana (beginning December 2023).
Atlanta, USA (Delta Air Lines) beginning March 28, 2024.
Later, it is possible to open new flight routes. For example: Miami (USA) Istanbul (Türkiye), Guatemala, Panama.
Although the airport will not receive many international flights, it will be useful for travelers. The airport makes intra-Mexican travel more convenient. You can travel between the east (Riviera Maya) and west (Baja California) coasts of Mexico or head to Mexico's capital.
Next to the airport is the Tulum Airport train station. Tourists arriving at the airport can continue their journey via the Tren Maya railway line. The southern branch of the railway line runs along the coast of the Riviera Maya, through stations such as Cancun Airport, Puerto Morelos, Playa del Carmen, Tulum, Tulum Airport, Puerto Aventuras and Akumal. The Tren Maya railway line also connects many other cities in Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula.
