A songthaew is a passenger vehicle in Thailand, adapted from a pick-up. It takes its name from the two bench seats fixed along either side of the back of the truck. (The word songthaew literally means "two benches")
In order to use this mode of transport you need to send a signal by hand to the driver to stop moving in the direction you need vehicle (hand sign to the driver).
There are buttons in the back of the car pressing which you can ask the driver to stop in the desired location.
