“Kupchino” metro station in St. Petersburg

“Kupchino” metro station in St. Petersburg (станция метро Купчино) is located in the southern part of the city, near the intersection of the Vitebsky Prospekt street and Dunaisky Prospekt street. The station is located next to the Balkansky square and the Malaya Balkanskaya stereet. There is access to the Vitebsky Prospekt. The station is located at a distance about 12 kilometers to the south of the Palace Square. The distance to the Ring Road is about 1.5 kilometers.

Kupchino station is the terminus of the Moskovsko-Petrogradskaya St. Petersburg metro line (Line 2, blue line). It is located on the ground section of the line. The nearest line station is "Zviozdnaya".

The station was opened 25 December 1972. Kupchino village was located not far from the station (approximately 2 km to the north). Later the name Kupcino get located near the city district. This explains the choice of the station name.

Kupchino metro station is located on the ground level, close to the railway station Kupchino. It is possible to go to the Balkanskaya square, as well (through an underpass railway AMPs) to the Vitebsk Avenue from the station.
