Esplanade Park photo Esplanade Park is the most famous park in Helsinki. Here like to spend free time local residents and tourists. In the park are often organized a variety of interesting events. In summer there is often live music. On the surrounding the park streets are located shops and cafes. For the first time the park was listed on the city plan in 1812.

Esplanade Park (Esplanadin puisto) is located in the center of Helsinki, just south of Senate Square and central railway station. The park is located between the streets North Esplanade and South Esplanade, from the Market Square (Kauppatori) in the east to the Erottaja tori square and Mannerheim street (Mannerheimintie) in the east. On the eastern edge of the park is located Swedish Theatre (Svenska Teatern), the west one of the main attractions in Helsinki, a fountain and sculpture Havis Amanda.

Taking place from north to south streets is dividing the park into three parts. The area between the streets Mannerheimintiei Korkeavuorenkatu is called “Teatteriesplanadi”. The site of the park between the streets Korkeavuorenkatu and Fabianinkatu called “Runeburg Esplanade” (Runeberginesplanadi).
The eastern parts of the park locals call “Kappeliesplanadi”, by name the restaurant Kappeli, which is located here since 1867. Length of the park is about 200 meters, a width approximately 60 meters.
